This website - www.nutechs.com - serves as a good example of a
web-based application at work.
Without boring you with all the gory details, nutechs.com is
being run with an application server accessing back-end data. Specifically,
we've got JSPs being served by WebSphere, accessing content that lives
in Domino databases. In this instance, think of Domino as the 'legacy'
application server. It could just as easily be DB2 or SQL or whatever.
The point is that while completely protecting the back-end data
source, we've been able to surface the information and make it available via a
browser.
What's more, we can even set it up to manipulate the data,
submit form the web, etc.
The bottom line is that this web site is a good example of a
Web Application at work. And, as you can tell, it does. Work, that is.
